After ending his college career at Arkansas, Brown was picked up with the 82nd overall selection of the 1982 NBA Draft by the (then) New Jersey (now, Brooklyn) Nets.The Chicago, Illinois native played the first seasons of his pro career in other leagues and for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Bulls, and Nets before he was dealt to the Houston Rockets in 1988.
