Boston trailed 3-2 early in the third period before David Pastrnak tied the game and James Hagens put the Bruins ahead. Fraser Minten scored the go-ahead goal, and Will Borgen added an empty-netter to finish the comeback. The result extended Boston’s unbeaten stretch to 7-0-1. It also gave the Bruins another game in which they had to respond instead of simply protecting a comfortable lead. That ability to recover has been a major part of the run, but it also leaves room for a question heading into the next matchup: how much time can Boston afford to spend chasing the game? The Bruins visit Carolina on Tuesday, opening a road test against a Hurricanes team that can make opponents work for every clean breakout and attacking chance. Boston’s comeback against San Jose was exciting, but repeating that formula would be a risky plan against a strong opponent.Boston Needs Its Best Start, Not Just Its Best FinishThe late surge against the Sharks showed the Bruins can generate offense in a hurry. Pastrnak helped spark the response, Hagens followed quickly, and the power play gave Boston an important goal through Minten. Those are encouraging signs for a team that has needed timely contributions from several players during its strong opening stretch.Carolina will give Boston a chance to see whether that offense can appear earlier. The Bruins will need to manage the puck, avoid unnecessary penalties and make the Hurricanes defend for extended stretches. If Boston spends too much time reacting to Carolina’s pressure, the comeback script may be difficult to repeat. The matchup also puts the Bruins’ defensive resilience in focus. Boston has shown it can weather trouble, but an unbeaten run does not make every deficit harmless. Staying composed after a mistake is useful; preventing the opponent from building momentum in the first place would be even better.MORE: Bruins Captain David Pastrnak Joins Elite Company With Third-Period Goal vs. SharksA Streak Is Stronger When It TravelsAn eight-game unbeaten stretch is a meaningful achievement, especially for a Bruins team that has already had to navigate close finishes. Tuesday’s game gives Boston a chance to show that the run can hold up away from home and against an opponent capable of testing its structure. The Bruins do not need another dramatic third period to make a statement. A composed opening, disciplined defense and timely scoring would tell fans just as much about this team’s staying power. If Boston can bring those pieces together in Carolina, its hot start will look less like a streak built on escapes and more like a team that knows how to control a tough game.More BruinsLatest Bruins newsTD Garden fan guide: What to know before you goComplete history of Bruins championships
