The Oregon Ducks have pursued a pair of quarterbacks heavily in the 2028 recruiting class, and one has set a date for his decision. Four-star Josiah Boyd, the No. 2 quarterback in the class, has locked in a Nov. 23 commitment date to choose between his three finalists.Oregon, UCLA and Kentucky are the finalists for the California dual-threat passer. Boyd took a visit to Eugene earlier this fall, watching the Ducks stomp Portland State on a Friday night, while also making trips to see the Bruins and Wildcats. Oregon has been closely linked with Boyd since the summer, but UCLA is the closest program to home. Kentucky has a connection through Will Stein, who developed Heisman finalist quarterbacks in Eugene before taking the job in Lexington. The Ducks have been viewed as the frontrunners all along, with the Bruins seen as a close second. However, after visiting Kentucky this past weekend and watching Stein lead an upset of then-No. 10 LSU in overtime, the Wildcats are at the top of Boyd's mind, and he could commit in any direction.NEWS: Elite 2028 QB Josiah Boyd will announce his Commitment November 23rd, a source tells @RivalsThe 6’3 180 QB from Moreno Valley, CA will choose between Kentucky, Oregon, and UCLAHe’s ranked as the No. 2 QB in the 2028 Rivals300https://t.co/lIdhpN8YtOpic.twitter.com/KiP1hdOW58— Hayes Fawcett (@Hayesfawcett3) October 13, 2026Boyd was the first quarterback the Ducks made a big effort for in the class. Tristin Gaines, the No. 8 quarterback in the class, has grown closer to Oregon recently after visiting for the Week 1 game against Boise State and last week against UCLA. Gaines has not yet set a date for his decision, so the door is open for Boyd to become the first commitment in Oregon's class. As a sophomore at Vista Del Lago High School, the 6-foot-4 quarterback threw for 2,920 yards and 19 touchdowns with three interceptions. He also ran for 462 yards and nine more scores. So far this season, in seven games, Boyd has thrown for 1,237 yards and 15 touchdowns, while rushing for eight more. The Ducks do have another connection to Boyd. His cousin, Devon Blackmon, was recruited and enrolled with the Ducks as a wide receiver in 2011. After redshirting with an injury, he eventually wound up at BYU. However, Oregon quickly became Boyd's dream school.Oregon will look to keep some momentum and continue to make Boyd a priority as the clock ticks down toward his commitment on Nov. 23.This article originally appeared on Ducks Wire: 2028 QB Josiah Boyd sets decision date, Oregon among finalists
