Rose ‘really proud’ as Bournemouth beat AC Milan on historic night for clubAFC Bournemouth continued their winning start in Europe with a 3-0 win over AC Milan on a historic night for the club at the Vitality Stadium. After a lively start from Bournemouth, the home side were awarded a penalty for handball, with Justin Kluivert making no mistake from the spot. The Cherries’ night quickly got better as Mike Maignan was sent off in the 28th minute for a two-handed push to Evanilson’s face, which resulted in another Bournemouth penalty. This time, Marcus Tavernier stepped up to the penalty spot and made no mistake, smashing the ball past substitute Lorenzo Torriani to make it 2-0 just after the 30-minute mark.Bournemouth continued to dominate the first half, with Milan managing just one shot on goal, leaving boss Ruben Amorim visibly frustrated. The Cherries finally got their third of the evening as substitute Amine Adli guided a brilliant free-kick into the top-left corner, leaving Bournemouth fans in dreamland. It was a real full-circle moment for the South Coast side, whose banner before the game read ‘How did we end up here?’, with the club’s red-and-black striped home kit inspired by AC Milan’s iconic colours.“A big night for us,” Bournemouth boss Marco Rose said. “I’m happy for the club, our fans especially and really proud of my lads. The way they did it was brilliant from the first minute until the last minute, we played a really good game. “Even with 11 against 11 we started well, we put pressure on them, we got one penalty. Then the red card makes something of the game. Sometimes you get in trouble in these situations but, like on Sunday, we did it really well. We didn’t give anything to them. “It suits us to stay humble. We know we are good. We know if we have the whole squad we can compete with everyone everywhere but the season is long.”
