Miguel Rojas Already Begins New Dodgers Role After Retirement

Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Miguel Rojas, recently retired, is already starting work with the team in his new role within the organization. Rojas’ exact title remains unclear, but he announced his emotional retirement and confirmed he will step away from the baseball field, while also alluding to a role within the coaching staff. I wanna stay here,” Rojas said. “I wanna wear this uniform or this logo in a different capacity, and continue to make the organization better.” Rojas’ main goal as a coachThis new role is no surprise to him, since he has long been laying the groundwork to eventually become an MLB coach. Over the last two years, Rojas has worked to coach his teammates in whatever capacity he can. “I understand what part of my career I’m in right now — I might be playing for a few more years and then I’m going to have to do something after baseball,” Rojas said back in 2024.“I’m embracing this opportunity to actually start coaching a little bit with my teammates. That way, I can prepare myself for what’s coming next.”View this post on InstagramA post shared by Dodgers Nation (@dodgersnation)Rojas has laid out his goal of becoming a manager, and this new role with the Dodgers, whatever it is, will set him up to climb the coaching ranks. As a player-coach, he has helped Mookie Betts develop his infield game while also helping other players defensively. Given how elite he has been defensively throughout his career, it is no surprise to see him help players in that role. On line-up decisions and bullpen management, Rojas has much to learn, but he has clearly followed the lead of his former manager, Dave Roberts.
