Kurt Warner apologizes for mixing up Jaylen and Tyler Warren

Credit: Kirby Lee-Imagn ImagesThe Pittsburgh Steelers and New Orleans Saints met on Sunday in the NFL’s first ever game in France. NFL Network was on the call, with Dave Pasch on play-by-play and Jason Kelce and Kurt Warner both providing analysis. But throughout the broadcast, Warner suffered a painful mixup on several occasions, going out of his way to compliment the elusive rushing ability of Steelers running back Tyler Warren. The problem? The Steelers running back is named Jaylen Warren, while Tyler Warren is a tight end for the Indianapolis Colts.Had the mixup happened just once, it probably could have gone relatively unnoticed, or at least been on the receiving end of just a few jokes before the game created another highlight that gave the collective internet something else to talk about. But Warner made the mistake three times, including twice on the same play, with each one underlining itself in the ears of the viewing audience more and more.“Not when you’ve got Tyler Warren on the field… Nobody better in the league at the running back spot of yards-after-catch than Tyler Warren.”Kurt Warner keeps referring to Jaylen Warren (Steelers running back) as Tyler Warren (Colts tight end). https://t.co/Hrl9lXhPXf— Awful Announcing (@awfulannouncing) October 25, 2026As you can hear at the end of that clip, Warner caught himself at the very end after finishing his analysis. It’s a mistake that any announcer can make, and after the game, he owned up to it on social media.“My bad, so sorry… it’s stinks as an announcer when you do that & unfortunately it won’t be my last time bc sometimes u just react & misspeak!” Warner wrote.Yes, I called JAYLEN Warren “Tyler” today after calling Colts game & referencing him in today’s game…My bad, so sorry… it’s stinks as an announcer when you do that & unfortunately it won’t be my last time bc sometimes u just react & misspeak!I own it… and JAYLEN was awesome today, so hopefully I gave him enough LOVE at other times!!— Kurt Warner (@kurt13warner) October 25, 2026Good on Warner for addressing the mistake. At least all of his words were complimentary when he got his wires crossed, as it would have been a bit more painful if such a mixup occurred while tearing into a player’s work ethic or some other critique. The Steelers ultimately beat the Saints 16–10 in Paris, with Warren accounting for 137 total yards on the day. New Orleans will return stateside and enjoy their bye week next week. Maybe Warner could use a bye week too.The post Kurt Warner apologizes for mixing up Jaylen and Tyler Warren appeared first on Awful Announcing.
