Smith has faced plenty of criticism since attending a White House dinner with United States President Donald Trump last week. But on Wednesday, he revealed that the conversation wasn’t exactly all friendly.During an appearance on The View this week, Smith said that he pushed back on Trump about the wars that the United States has been involved in, and about the economy. And according to Smith, Trump responded by insisting that he’s “the greatest president who’s ever lived.”White House DinnerSmith joined comedian Bill Maher and musician Kid Rock for dinner with Trump at the White House last Thursday, just months after Trump questioned whether Smith had the IQ to be president. Smith said that the dinner lasted more than four hours, and that he went to advocate for HBCUs and the Black community.Smith then told Sean Hannity that Trump “didn’t duck any smoke whatsoever.” But not everyone was happy with Smith for going.Former ESPN host Jemele Hill argued that Trump “got exactly what he wanted out of this dinner.” And Smith also faced questions about Kid Rock, who has drawn criticism over his use of the Confederate flag.“Essentially, it amounted to what I consider to be a very substantive evening,” Smith said of the White House dinner. “We were there for over four hours in the White House, and Donald Trump did not run from any questions. He answered every single question. He was very, very defiant with any criticism that came in his direction, or any disagreement. But as Kid Rock went on Fox News on Friday morning and articulated, it was a pleasant meeting. It was respectful.”‘Wait for It’Smith addressed the dinner again on The View on Wednesday, and he explained how he challenged Trump on his foreign policy record.“I pushed back when he brought up Venezuela. He started talking about them. He started talking about the war with Russia and Ukraine, obviously Iran as well, justifying that,” Smith said, via Awful Announcing. “I said, you said there was gonna be no new wars, but then there was a war. You bombed them. You said they were obliterated. Then you came back, you bombed them again. Then you said it would be over in 4 weeks. Then after that, it was 4 months. Then after that, it was 7 months.”Smith said that he also pushed back on Trump’s economic promises.“Then after that, you’re telling us to wait until after the midterms, and then you’re offering $5,000 to everybody who voted for the Republicans to go back into the House. I said, damn. That’s a lot, Mr. President. I mean, come on,” Smith said.According to Smith, Trump didn’t have much of an answer.“He says, do you not understand? Just wait for it. I’m bringing trillions of dollars into this country. Trillions, trillions. I said, where is it? He said, you’ll see, wait for it, wait for it,” Smith said.‘The Greatest President’Smith said that he wasn’t impressed with Trump’s response. And that’s when Trump made a bold claim about himself.“I said, really? That’s all you got to say? He said, ‘Absolutely, Stephen, do you understand? I’m the greatest president who’s ever lived. Do you understand that?'” Smith said.Co-host Sunny Hostin then asked Smith whether he thought Trump really believed that.“I feel he absolutely believes that. He absolutely positively believes that he is the greatest president,” Smith said.Hostin had a blunt response, saying that Smith was “describing a malignant narcissist.”Smith also made it clear that he isn’t sorry for going to the dinner.“He’s the president of the United States, and I’ll be damned if I’m not going to try,” Smith said, via TV Insider. “I’m not apologizing for that to anybody.”The post ‘I’m the greatest president who’s ever lived’: Donald Trump sent a message to Stephen A.
