ESPN’s Pat McAfee Stuns Sports Fans By Alluding to Charlie Kirk Killing While Complaining About His Visit to Utah’s Campus: ‘He’s Losing It’

YouTubePat McAfee left the sports world stunned when he referenced the killing of Charlie Kirk to explain why he didn’t enjoy his visit to a college campus in Utah. This past weekend, ESPN’s College GameDay went to the University of Utah to see the school’s football team take on 18th-ranked Utah. Going into the game, the Utes were ranked sixth. On Monday’s episode of The Pat McAfee Show, McAfee revealed that he did not have a good time on the campus. He then cited a video from the university in which various students gave their impressions of McAfee. One of them called him “corny.”pic.twitter.com/m3AGqPnVPs— – (@Spicoli_____) October 26, 2026The video was originally posted by an official university account. McAfee took exception to that decision, saying:“They put out [a video] to do an impression of Pat McAfee, and one kid goes, ‘Oh, he’s corny,'” McAfee said. “Another kid calls me creepy. OK, if these kids would have done this on their own blogs, all good. I mean, everybody’s taking shots at me anyways for everything. I get it.“If the two ladies that were hosting that put that out on their own blog, I’d be OK with it,” he said. “Hey, you’re allowed to do what you want. The university puts that out as I’m about to go out and do an infomercial for the place? And then I’m walking in front of thousands of these people. This is how the university feels about it? It’s an uncomfortable feeling.”Moments later he wildly drew parallels between his situation and Kirk’s assassination at Utah Valley University last year.“It made me feel a little bit weird,” McAfee continued. “I would say it made me feel a little bit weird. And then I thought to myself, has anything, like, really scary happened at a college gathering in the state of Utah recently? Like, do we think we should be amplifying reasons for why people hate my guts as a university? I don’t know. So it was just– it was a lot of mixed feelings for me going out there.” Pat McAfee GOES OFF on the University of Utah He says he’s never felt so uncomfortable, even bringing up what happened at UVU last year.“I did not enjoy the University of Utah.”HOLY SMOKES pic.twitter.com/YCXQPM3vEH— Bill (@Billgetzfroggy) October 26, 2026McAfee was almost universally mocked for having such an extreme reaction to lighthearted jabs from college students.Pat McAfee after a group of college kids jokingly tell him to keep his shirt on … https://t.co/QBMK4oX0REpic.twitter.com/d8qCp0y6Q7— Kenny Dee Williams (@KBadds) October 27, 2026pat mcafee wouldnt last 10 minutes in my mentions— Lucy Rohden (@lucy_rohden) October 26, 2026BTW, this is the video the University of Utah put out that Pat took offense to.Holy Charmin soft… pic.twitter.com/Rt9gVdrKD1— College Sports Only (@CSOonX) October 26, 2026A genuinely unbelievable moment in this video at the 1:12 mark. I would politely ask him to consider how Mississippi student Mary Kate Cornett felt when he used his show to amplify a false rumor about an 18-year-old's sex life. https://t.co/I1z3x3ZpH0— Matthew Stevens (@matthewcstevens) October 26, 2026Somebody called Pat lame and it shook him to his core.
