Lincoln Riley © Instagram/uscfbLincoln Riley’s time at USC seems to be coming to an end after yet another disappointing season for the Trojans, and they will likely fail to make the CFP. Right now, the Trojans are unranked, are 6-2, and face their toughest game of the season so far this Saturday against the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes. Many in Los Angeles and in college football more broadly are starting to ask who could be USC’s next coach. Analyst Brock Vereen believes that if the Trojans part ways with Riley after the 2026 season, they should look outside the Power Four conferences to find a new head coach. He just doesn’t believe they will bring themselves to do so.Here’s what he said about the matter on Saturday via 97.1 The Fan’s X:“I would want a head coach who is currently at a non-power conference school, I just do not believe USC is going to be able to humble themselves to make that call!”He also mentioned Jason Eck as the top coach he would like to see at USC, calling the New Mexico coach the dream choice for the Trojans. However, he clarified that if the Wisconsin job becomes available, Eck would likely want to go to his alma mater.Lincoln Riley wants to stay at USC for the foreseeable futureLincoln Riley is convinced his future lies with the Trojans. Despite the backlash from the fandom in recent weeks, Riley made it clear this Tuesday to the press that he sees himself at USC in the foreseeable future:“Listen, if I didn’t want to be at this place, I wouldn’t have come here in the first place. I’ve had plenty of opportunities to leave,” Rileysaid Tuesday afternoon. “This is where I want to be. This is the right place for me. I’m the right person to be here. And that’s as honest and transparent as I can be with you guys.“I love it here. I mean like I told you guys a lot of times — there’s not many people in college football history that gave up what I gave up to come here, I don’t care if it’s 15 years down the line, that never should be taken lightly. It’s certainly not taken lightly by me. I came here because I believe in this place and none of that has changed whatsoever.”Much of his job security likely rides on the result of Saturday’s game.Read More:“You Gotta See a Better Team”: Former Colorado QB Explains What Deion Sanders Needs to Do to Keep His Job Amid Ongoing Pressure“There’s Been Conversations in the Last 24 Hours”: Insider Links Lincoln Riley to Big 12 Program Amid USC Firing BuzzCollege Sports Network has you covered with the latest news, analysis, insights, and trending stories in tennis, college football, men’s college basketball, women’s college basketball, and college baseball!
