“ I would hate for Martin O’Neill to overstay his time at Celtic,” Ally McCoist

“ I would hate for Martin O’Neill to overstay his time at Celtic,” Ally McCoistAlly McCoist has had his say on Martin O’Neill’s increasing fraught situation at Celtic and has admitted that he’d hate to see the legendary Celtic figure overstay his time at the club…1st November 2026; Falkirk Stadium, Scottish Premiership, Falkirk versus Celtic; Celtic manager Martin O’Neill. Photo Vagelis GeorgariouSpeaking to talkSPORT Bet Online Casino the former Rangers striker admits that while he is 100% supportive of a second ever title win for the Rangers, after being their first ever manager, he remains concerned for his friend Martin O’Neill and specifically the impact that the developing turmoil at the club could be having on his health.“I would hate for Martin O’Neill to overstay his time at Celtic,”McCoist stated.“I think Martin has absolutely earned the right and deserves the respect to stay for as long as he feels right. I really do. I would hate Martin to overstay his time at Celtic, first and foremost for his health,” he said.McCoist added: “That’s the most important thing, because I’ve always gotten on really well with Martin. Obviously I want Rangers to win the league 100%, but Martin has more than earned the right to see things out for as long as he wants at Celtic, and that should be the case.”Europe is putting extra pressure on Celtic – their level of performance has been ‘extremely disappointing’ McCoist states“I don’t think for a minute Martin will say they’re prioritising, but their level of performance in Europe has been extremely disappointing. I know they created one or two chances against Benfica, but Benfica were three-nil up and done.“The performances in Europe have been really disappointing from Martin’s point of view.” the Rangers man stated.“I don’t have any doubt that it could work in Rangers’ favour not having those Thursday European games. Celtic are not allowed, same as Rangers, to get into any game other than expecting to win, particularly at home, whether domestic or European, the fans won’t allow it.“So there is added pressure on Celtic, of course there is.”Whether Martin O’Neill remains in place for Thursday night’s Europa League match against Turkish side Besiktas remains to be seen. It’s unlikely that the Celtic Board will take any action this side of Thursday evening’s contest at Celtic Park so it will be a decision Martin will have to take himself. He will have been asking himself can he turn things around and if the answer isn’t clear and in anyway positive in the cold light of day then there is only one way that can go. If Martin stays then another defeat against the visitors from Istanbul then surely he will have to bow to the inevitable?
