Chiefs Target Garrett Wilson In Bold Mock Trade Proposal

Robert Deutsch-Imagn ImagesThe Kansas City Chiefs are actively calling around for wide receiver help before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10. This push comes after a rough Week 7 loss to the Seattle Seahawks and injuries to key pass catchers. Tyquan Thornton landed on injured reserve with a dislocated ankle, while Rashee Rice sits out with a hamstring issue. Even if Rice returns, the offense lacks a true top target to trust in big moments. A to Z Sports reports the team is exploring moves to fix this gap before the window closes. The Cost of a Star ReceiverGarrett Wilson stands out as the only top receiver on a losing team that might move soon. Solak noted that while players like Nico Collins and DeVonta Smith are untouchable, Wilson is different. While Nico Collins of the 2-5 Texans, Smith of the 2-5 Eagles, and other elite receivers on losing squads exist, Wilson is the only one I might envision being traded within the next two weeks. This quote highlights the unique spot the Jets find themselves in.The price for Wilson is steep. It requires giving up a young player like Worthy plus two future draft picks. The Jets received two first-round picks for Sauce Gardner last year, so they will likely want similar value. A to Z Sports ran ten different mock trades through their simulator to see what fits. The Wilson deal is the most aggressive option on the list. Why the Chiefs Need This MoveThe need for help became clear on Sunday night. The Chiefs offense floundered against a tough Seattle defense, scoring only three points. Kenneth Walker III has been great in the run game, but the passing game needs a new focal point. Travis Kelce has surpassed his peak performance era, while the current receivers have failed to maintain consistency. Yahoo Sports notes that the Chiefs urgently require a trade for a receiver to reopen their Super Bowl window.IMAGN IMAGES via Reuters ConnectEven with a healthy Rashee Rice, the team lacks a proven number one option. Tyreek Hill left in 2022, and the team has cycled through many replacements since then. They have not had a true top dog in that room for a long time. Trading appears to be the optimal method for enhancing the position through the remainder of the 2026 season. Will the Jets Make the Deal?Despite the logic, a trade is a huge long shot. The Jets have demonstrated no indication of wanting to trade Wilson, particularly since last year’s fire sale excluded him. Solak admits this is a wild idea. “5. Send Worthy, a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 third-round pick to Jets for Garrett Wilson,” Solak proposed. He knows the Jets are unlikely to pull the trigger on such a stunning deal.Chiefs fans should not hold out hope for this specific blockbuster. However, the team will almost certainly settle for a lesser wide receiver trade. The front office must find a way to get better at the position before the Nov. 10 deadline. The next game against the Denver Broncos on Sunday, Nov. 1 will test if any changes can be made in time.
