The Denver Broncos are sticking with Bo Nix despite the quarterback's recent struggles. "[W]hile Nix and the offense clearly need to improve, there are no questions in the building about Nix’s competitiveness, drive and ability to get things rolling again," The Ringer's Tom Pelissero reported over the weekend.Ryan Fitzpatrick has questioned Nix's competitiveness, and other pundits have suggested Nix could be benched, but it sounds like Sean Payton and the Broncos still have confidence in the third-year QB. Denver changed some of the offensive terminology when offensive coordinator Davis Webb took over play-calling duties this offseason, which was initially reported by Chase Daniel and others. During Fox NFL Sunday yesterday, Jay Glazer said that Webb "completely changed the terminology," which Glazer suggested left Nix's head spinning. Glazer said the Broncos have since gone back to Payton's old terminology. When he took back play-calling, Payton was asked by the Denver Post's Parker Gabriel about the terminology changes. "What these guys have learned, I can adjust and learn," Payton said on Oct. 8. "Sometimes it might be something where I want to call it this. They’ll learn it. The things that have been tweaked relative to certain formations or calls, that’s the easy part.”So Glazer's report wasn't necessarily new information, and it might have been somewhat exaggerated. James Palmer of NFL on Prime Video reported that "about 30% of the terminology" was changed when Webb took over play-calling. Palmer suggested there were only minor changes. "[The changes were made] to have more of a rhyme or reason to some formations to make them more current," Palmer tweeted. "There were some new pass concepts that Davis liked and were different, but to be honest, it was pretty similar." Bottom line: Denver's sticking with Nix, and the offense hasn't made huge changes going back to Payton.
