Venezia vs Inter Milan – Match preview and team news

Venezia vs Inter Milan – Match preview and team newsInter Milan will hope to retain the top spot in the Serie A table by securing all three points while travelling to face Venezia in their next league game on Wednesday.Venezia vs Inter Milan – Match preview and team newsDate: Wednesday, 28th October.Kick-off: 5:30pm BST.Venue: Stadio Pier Luigi Penzo, Venezia.Venezia team newsVenezia manager Davide Nicola faces a tough task reshaping his squad as they prepare to host the reigning champions at the Penzo. The primary boost for the relegation-threatened side is the highly anticipated return of captain Gianluca Busio, who has fully recovered from a thigh injury and could force his way straight back into the starting lineup. However, the Lagunari remain heavily depleted in other areas, with Marin Sverko, Bartol Franjic, and Andrea Adorante all officially ruled out of the matchday squad. Adding to Nicola’s defensive worries, wing-back Thierry Correia remains a major late fitness doubt with a persistent thigh issue and will undergo close monitoring right up until kick-off.Venezia are expected to deploy a defensive 3-5-2 system, likely relying on a frontline of John Yeboah and Akor Adams to breach Inter’s backline.Inter Milan team newsCaptain Lautaro Martinez remains completely sidelined following a hamstring injury suffered against Club Brugge, leaving a massive void in the Nerazzurri attack.Cristian Chivu’s defensive and midfield options are also severely restricted, with Benjamin Pavard, John Stones, and Curtis Jones all confirmed absentees as they struggle to regain full match fitness.Additionally, wing-back Luis Henrique is out until the November international break due to an adductor strain. With squad rotation highly anticipated to keep key players fresh, star forward Marcus Thuram could be rested on the bench. This opens the door for young strikers Pio Esposito and Ange Bonny to spearhead the attack in a heavily rotated 3-5-2 system as Inter look to maintain their Scudetto defence.FormVeneziaVenezia are enduring a dismal return to the top flight, sitting rock bottom of Serie A with just three points. The Lagunari have suffered seven defeats in their opening eight league games, conceding at an alarming rate of over two goals per match. While new manager Davide Nicola sparked temporary hope with a stunning 1-0 upset over Napoli, that momentum evaporated immediately following a disappointing 1-0 defeat to Genoa last weekend.Inter MilanReigning champions Inter Milan arrive in sensational form, remaining unbeaten in Serie A with seven wins and one draw. Boasting the league’s most prolific attack with 23 goals, Cristian Chivu’s men have won four of their last five matches across all competitions. They reclaimed the top spot in dramatic fashion last weekend, sealing a thrilling -2-1 comeback victory against Fiorentina courtesy of a ninety-eighth-minute winner from Piotr Zielinski.Predicted lineupsVenezia: F.
