Brandon Aiyuk takes significant step toward return to 49ers

After a stalemate that has gone on for several months, it appears wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is ready to return to the San Francisco 49ers.On Wednesday, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Aiyuk has filed his paperwork to be reinstated from the reserve/left squad list.Adding to that, Aiyuk is expected to report to the team’s facility on Friday.“Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk has turned in paperwork to be reinstated, per his agent Drew Rosenhaus. Aiyuk, who currently is on San Francisco’s Reserve/Left Squad list, will be reporting to the 49ers’ training facility Friday afternoon, per Drew Rosenhaus,” Schefter reported.“Brandon is healthy and ready to get back on the field,” Rosenhaus said. This is really the first movement we’ve seen in the Aiyuk-49ers saga that has been interesting to watch play out, to say the least.Aiyuk hasn’t played a snap in the NFL since 2024, when he suffered a torn ACL. The team placed Aiyuk on the reserve/left squad list late last season after he failed to report to the team after recovering from his injury.— Enjoy free coverage of the top news & trending stories with The Big Lead Newsletter —
