SANTA CLARA, CA - OCTOBER 20: Brandon Aiyuk #11 of the San Francisco 49ers gets injured after making a catch during the game against the Kansas City Chiefs at Levi's Stadium on October 20, 2024 in Santa Clara, California. Today is the day soon-to-be-former San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk reports to the team facility in order to begin his reinstatement to the NFL. As of this writing, several things are being discussed; the main hurdle is the $13 million the NFL informed Aiyuk that he owes the 49ers. You know it’s obnoxious when you have local news choppers providing footage not of Aiyuk, but of his new agent Drew Rosenhaus getting out of a van…less than a mile away from the facility. Let me remind you, this isn’t someone signing with a new team. This is someone going to a meeting where a team wants their money back and a resolution to get him off their team. Aiyuk hopped out of the van and gave a statement: Brandon Aiyuk’s arrival at 49ers HQ and statement pic.twitter.com/nSWy3nsMV4— David Lombardi (@LombardiHimself) November 6, 2026Let’s not think this statement is something bigger than it is. Aiyuk wants back into the “National Football League.” There might be speculation that he could come back to the 49ers, but that’s nonsense. While the opposite has happened in declarations made by this team (see Jimmy Garoppolo leaving in 2022), there’s little evidence outside of some recent ambiguous answers by Kyle Shanahan to suggest he’s welcome back to the 49ers. Aiyuk was placed on the reserve/left squad list in 2025, and aside from going on Instagram, he made no attempt to get off it. The drama continued with him firing his previous agent and declaring he’d never do business with the 49ers again. We’ll update you when this circus is over, but it’s almost inevitable on what the ending to this story is. At this point, Daejon Love has a better chance of suiting up in 2026 than Brandon Aiyuk does. But you have to hand it to Aiyuk; he’s got everyone talking about what’s going to be a meeting that ends with him off the 49ers.
