San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk warms up before an NFL game against the Arizona Cardinals in Santa Clara, Calif., Sunday, Oct. 6, 2024. (Jed Jacobsohn/AP) Disgruntled San Francisco 49ers star wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk is back in Santa Clara, turning an otherwise standard Friday practice day for the team into a surreal scene.Ahead of a scheduled 3 p.m. meeting, the wide receiver appeared at the team's business offices, which are about a tenth of a mile west of Levi's Stadium and half a mile from the team's practice facility. Aiyuk arrived in a black van along with his new agent, Drew Rosenhaus, with both giving brief statements to the throng of reporters stationed in front of the office.Drew Rosenhaus and Brandon Aiyuk stop and briefly address the media before his meeting with #49ers, which is about to begin. https://t.co/A3ClTXIce1- Nick Wagoner (@nwagoner) November 6, 2026"Obviously, Brandon is here to meet with the team. Fortunately, he's feeling good physically; he's healthy, he's ready to get back to work," Rosenhaus said. "Don't really have any comment about where he's going to play. We'll keep that between us and the Niners. But obviously, we're here with all the right intentions."With a news helicopter circling above the gathering, Aiyuk told reporters it was "nice to see y'all" before he said: "I'm feeling great, feeling healthy. A long recovery process, long rehab process, but I'm back to 100% and looking to get reinstated into the National Football League."As Aiyuk and Rosenhaus began to walk into the 49ers offices, the former two-time 1,000-yard receiver repeated his last line to a reporter who shouted a question at him. Rosenhaus declined most other inquiries, saying they may have a few more comments after the meeting, but when California Post reporter Evan Webeck asked about Aiyuk's outstanding arrest warrant, Rosenhaus looked back over his shoulder and said, "We're working on that."Throughout Friday, Santa Clara police cars were spotted around the 49ers team facilities, something team beat reporters noted was uncommon for a practice day. The department put out a warrant for Aiyuk's arrest in June, stemming from Aiyuk posting a video of himself driving up to 104 mph on city streets last December. Aiyuk is appearing at the 49ers facility as part of his attempt to return to the NFL. He's expected to have to negotiate with the 49ers over a reported $13 million that the NFL says he owes the team, money stemming from the signing bonus he got when he signed a four-year, $120 million extension in 2024. Aiyuk hasn't played a game in more than two years since going down with a knee injury in October 2024 and has been on the reserve/left squad list after leaving the Niners late last season. He fired agent Ryan Williams during his long-running dispute with the 49ers and was without representation until he recently hired Rosenhaus. It isn't clear what resolution can come out of Friday's meeting, though the NFL trade deadline that's set for Tuesday at 1 p.m. Pacific is a looming factor. Still, the sudden appearance added some new drama to this Aiyuk-49ers saga. The Associated Press contributed to this report.
