Bolles Bulldogs boys, girls to host FHSAA regional golf tournaments

The First Coast will have its usual strong representation in FHSAA regional golf tournaments Nov. 2-3.But only a handful of the 32 teams that qualified will get a home-course advantage, both in Class 1A on Nov. 3 and both hosted by Bolles.The boys Region 1-1A tournament is at the King & Bear in St. Augustine, with Bolles, Providence, St. Johns Country Day, Episcopal and Christ's Church competing. The girls' Region 1-1A tournament is at Eagle Harbor in Orange Park, with Bolles, Providence, Episcopal and Christ's Church.The most intriguing region will be 1-3A at the Golf Club at Cypress Head in Port Orange. It's there that the same five teams that topped District 2-3A, Tocoi Creek, Beachside, Ponte Vedra, Creekside and Nease will battle again. Ponte Vedra is the No. 1 team in Class 3A according to the iWanamaker rankings, with Tocoi Creek fifth, Beachside seventh, Creekside 24th and Nease 33rd.Lake Mary, ranked fourth in the 3A, and Spruce Creek, 12th, have the best chance to break through the First Coast domination. There are five teams in the region among the top 20 in Classi 3A, and 12 among the top 50.The rest of the area teams and individuals will be scattered as far west as Fort Walton Beach and South to Cocoa Beach. The top two teams in each regional, and the top two individuals not on those teams, will automatically advance to the state tournaments.
