PHILADELPHIA — Eagles defensive tackle Moro Ojomo could become a popular trade candidate over the next few weeks, but he’s not ready to say goodbye.Ojomo, who is playing in the final year of his rookie contract, has become one of the Eagles’ top defenders in recent years, but the Eagles could struggle to re-sign him this offseason because they have already signed Jalen Carter and Jordan Davis to long-term extensions. Ojomo is expected to leave the Eagles during free agency or via a trade before the NFL trade deadline on Nov. 10, but it’s still a fluid situation. Sports Illustrated reporter Albert Breer reported that the Eagles have told other NFL teams that Ojomo is not available, and there’s a sense that the team is still trying to re-sign him.“[Eagles general manager] Howie Roseman and [owner] Jeffrey Lurie mean so much to me for giving me this opportunity to play for this team,” Ojomo told reporters on Friday when asked about the trade rumors and his future with the team. “I think I was the 23rd DT picked [in the 2023 NFL Draft]. So yeah, if we could make it work, I love playing for the city. I love working hard for the city. I want to produce results for the city. I hate letting them down and being 2-5, like we are.”After recording six sacks last season, Ojomo has recorded no sacks during the first seven weeks of the 2026 season, but he hasn’t had a bad year. He has flashed as a pass rusher and made the game-winning tackle on a two-point conversion in the team’s Week 1 victory over the Washington Commanders. “I don’t think any door is shut,” Ojomo said about his future with the Eagles. “No, I wouldn’t say that [the door is closed]. But you don’t know what the future holds.”Ojomo said “it’s tough” not knowing whether he will play for the Eagles next season or if he will be on another team. But he’s doing his best to stay focused on this season and not worrying about that uncertainty. “I like the way I started the season a little,” Ojomo said. “The last couple games being banged up and all that, I want to get back to kind of playing confident and fast. Get off is one of the things I do at a very high level.”MORE BY CAYDEN STEELEEagles’ defense is getting torched, but young starter says: ‘I don’t think it’s frustrating’Oct. 30, 2026, 2:14 p.m.Eagles get huge trade boost: Blockbuster deal could spark bidding war for Philly’s rising defenderOct. 30, 2026, 2:12 p.m.Ojomo has not missed a game this season, but he has been listed on the injury report with a neck injury this week and with an abdomen injury last week.“Been annoying,” Ojomo said about his health. “I feel like last couple weeks I’ve been dealing with different crap, and I just want to feel healthy and just go out there and practice with those boys. Practice is so important, so that’s kind of been a pain. But trainers been great about that and coaches have been great about that.”Read the original article on NJ.com.
