Coming out of their bye week, the Washington Huskies extended an offer to three-star Desert Edge High School senior linebacker Nathan Jones, a Wisconsin commit in the 2027 class. The 6-foot-3, 230-pound hybrid defender for the Goodyear, Arizona high school announced his latest scholarship opportunity this week, his first offer since pledging his services to the Badgers back on May 31 after Jones made an official visit to Madison.UW has already secured a pair of Desert Edge seniors in this year's class, four-star quarterback Blake Roskopf and three-star wide receiver Zerek Sidney, with seven total Grand Canyon State recruits set to make the move to Seattle next year and the potential for an eighth with inside linebackers coach Brian Odom formally offering the three-star edge and No. 25 prospect from Arizona by 247Sports' rankings.Jones exploded on the scene as a junior with 25 tackles for loss and 12.5 sacks alongside star pass rusher and eventual Badgers' 2028 commit Jelanie George, a former top target of UW outside linebackers coach Aaron Van Horn and defensive coordinator Ryan Walters. The versatile Desert Edge linebacker plays with the type of physicality that UW seeks to add behind first-year edge Ramzak Fruean and second-year linebacker Zaydrius Rainey-Sale and veteran Xe'ree Alexander, able to play multiple positions and consistently impact opposing offenses. The Huskies hold five commitments from players listed as edge rushers or traditional linebackers in the '27 class, but as Jedd Fisch and UW's personnel department have displayed over the past two years, there is no shortage of young, high-caliber players at Walters' disposal to use over the next three to four years. However, only one of the five, four-star St. Joseph Regional (New Jersey) standout Chaz Gray, is viewed as a traditional edge prospect. Three-star St. John Bosco linebacker Ethan Coach is also able to hold up outside on the defensive line, though it's unclear where the Huskies' coaching staff will start him out next fall, opening the door for Jones to be the potential final missing piece if UW can flip the Wisconsin pledge between now and the early signing period in December. This article originally appeared on Huskies Wire: Washington Football Offers 2027 Wisconsin LB Commit From Arizona
