Key Takeaways

  • Three Gold Gloves for 2026 Arizona Diamondbacks.
  • Well, this is a pleasant surprise.
  • Of the four Diamondbacks nominated for Gold Gloves in the National League, three of them were winners.

PHOENIX, ARIZONA - JUNE 14: Geraldo Perdomo #2 of the Arizona Diamondbacks is congratulated by Pavin Smith #26, Gabriel Moreno #14 and Corbin Carroll #7 after scoring the game-winning run against the San Diego Padres during the ninth inning of the MLB game at Chase Field on June 14, 2025 in Phoenix, Arizona. Of the four Diamondbacks nominated for Gold Gloves in the National League, three of them were winners. Gabriel Moreno won at catcher, Geraldo Perdomo at shortstop, and Corbin Carroll in right field. The only Arizona nominee not to win, was Ildemaro Vargas who was one of the final three in the utility category. That went to Mauricio Dubón of Braves (he was a sort of incumbent, having won the American League award there last year, as an Astro). Perdomo and Carroll won their first Gold Gloves, while it was Moreno’s second honor, having previously taken it home in 2023. The three awards ties a franchise record. The Diamondbacks also won three in 2019, courtesy of Nick Ahmed (SS), Zack Greinke (P) and David Peralta (OF).Corbin Carroll, right fieldDespite experiencing a relatively down year offensively at the plate, hitting .239 with 22 hkme-runs, Carroll leaned heavily into his elite speed and defensive instincts to anchor the right side of the outfield at Chase Field. Carroll led all MLB right fielders with +10 Outs Above Average (OAA), Defensive Runs Saved (DRS) largely agrees, scoring him +12 there, ranking him second in the NL. His win is particularly impressive, considering his reputation for a relatively weak arm. But the highlight reel below shows, that isn’t necessarily the case. He’s the first Arizona outfielder to win a Gold Glove since Peralta in 2019.View LinkGabriel Moreno, catcherPerhaps surpridingly, Moreno became just the second catcher in MLB history to win a batting title and a Gold Glove in the same season. He joins Minnesota Twins legend and Hall of Famer Joe Mauer, who achieved the feat in 2008 and 2009. Gaby led all National League catchers with a career-best +14 DRS, and his Defensive WAR was an MLB-best 2.0. So this isn’t one of those cases where the voters were bedazzled by offensive production: Moreno fully deserved the award. Probably jacks up the cost for the Diamondbacks of any negotiations towards a contract extension. View LinkGeraldo Perdomo, shortstop I could have sworn Perdomo had won a Gold Glove before, but that wasn’t the case. Indeed, this was the first time he was named a top-three finalist at his position. He became the first Arizona shortstop to win the hardware since Nick Ahmed won back-to-back awards in 2018 and 2019. He posted +16 OAA, which ranked second in the National League and fourth among all MLB shortstops. His +8 DRS also put Perdomo second among National League shortstops. He committed just 8 errors in 2026, compared to a career-worst 18 in 2025, in a similar number of innings at the position. View Link
