Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning (16) looks to pass during the game against Missouri at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. (Mikala Compton/Austin American-Statesman) COLUMBIA, Mo. - In one of the season's most critical games, Texas football quarterback Arch Manning delivered arguably his most efficient performance.Manning threw for 298 yards and three touchdowns on 28-of-38 passing in front of a rabid, sold-out crowd Saturday at Memorial Stadium during the Longhorns' 34-20 win. More importantly, he didn't commit a turnover for the first time since Week 3 against UTSA.With receiver Cam Coleman missing the game with a shoulder injury and Ryan Wingo playing through his own nagging injuries, Manning turned to Emmett Mosley V and his running backs. Mosley led Texas with 85 yards receiving, but Manning's ability to find running backs Raleek Brown and Derrek Cooper helped key the win.MORE: Texas football shows it can win tough road games - and play team ball - at Mizzou | GoldenRELATED: How hoops helps Rasheem Biles on Texas' defenseBrown hauled in six catches for 48 yards and a touchdown while Cooper tallied had 24 yards and a touchdown on his one reception.According to Texas coach Steve Sarkisian, Manning's composure reflected how the team played in every facet of the game. And it's the primary reason why Manning is 8-2 as a starting quarterback against ranked teams, including wins in each of his six past such starts."I thought Arch played a heck of a football game for us today," he said. "There are moments where it wasn't perfect. Let's start with that. This was not perfect, but I think the resiliency and the mental toughness of the team showed up today. I thought we were at our best when our best was needed today." Texas Longhorns tight end Emaree Winston (85) jumps over Missouri Tigers safety Kensley Louidor-Faustin (7) as he carries the ball in the second quarter during the game against Missouri at Faurot Field at Memorial Stadium in Columbia on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2026. (Mikala Compton/Austin American-Statesman) But Manning may need to be even better next week, when the New Orleans native makes his first appearance as the starting quarterback in his home state of Louisiana against LSU.Not that Manning plans on worrying about it too much, at least until the team gets back to Austin."I'm going to enjoy this one and enjoy the flight home with the guys," he said. "We all know we got a big one next week."Sign up for the Daily Briefing from the Austin American-Statesman.
