Grand Rapids (Mich.) Kenowa Hills is one of the favorites to make a deeper run in Michigan’s Division 4. The Knights had to withstand a push from a pesky Grand Rapids Christian who came in at 4-5. The game was tied at 21 at one point but Kenowa took control and stretched their lead out en route to a 49-35 victory.Kenowa was led by Michigan commit Lundon Hampton, who scored five touchdowns — four rushing, one receiving. Hampton is a bigger back at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds. He is an angular runner, a slasher who has some short-area twitch and suddenness for his size. He has acceleration and enough top-end to run away from defenders. He also can contribute as a pass-catcher which he showed on the one touchdown reception. He’s had a big year with several of these types of games.Michigan Tech commit Grayson Fellows was very good in leading he win at quarterback. He was efficient, made good decisions, used his feet when he had to, and gave tremendous second effort on a touchdown run that looked dead, but he continued to push and got in. He’s accurate, he throws with good touch down the field and dropped in a beautiful one during this game. He also shows very good timing. He connected with Central Michigan commit Will Fussman on an out that was thrown well before the break and was on the money. Fussman has had a great season. He’s 6’2 with deeper speed and ball skills. He only had a couple targets in this one, but his presence opened up opportunities for Kenowa’s other skill guys to have one on one matchups.Sophomore Kiumani Broussard is the one we are watching closely. He nearly broke a punt return and has some real quickness and explosiveness when he touches the ball. With some very good older skill guys here, he only gets so many opportunities, but he’s a guy who could break out next fall.Christian’s top prospect is Indiana commit Caleb Pugh. He’s been out most of the season with injury, so was just coming back and getting into the swing of the season. He plays guard at Christian but the plan is center at Indiana. This was a camp find by Indiana that could pay off. Pugh is a hard-working lineman who play with good pad level and bend. Hope College quarterback commit Charlie King was very elusive and made a lot of plays with his feet. He got out of several situations where it looked like Kenowa had him tackled. He also hit on a downfield touchdown to senior receiver Brieon Walton, a 6-foot-3 prospect who has a couple of D3 offers.
