(Will Aldam/Hearst Connecticut Media) BERLIN - When the season began, Glastonbury boys soccer was looking for redemption. The Guardians finished the 2025 season with a 6-7-4 record, missing the conference tournament after reaching the final in each of the previous two seasons.Expectations were high for Glastonbury from the outset this season, with 13 seniors and 17 returners. On Tuesday, those expectations were met.Glastonbury defeated South Windsor 3-0 at Sage Park to win the CCC championship, its second title in four years."We talked about it today - championship games don't come around very often and it is an opportunity to honor the history of Glastonbury soccer," Glastonbury coach KC Warren said. It is a great moment for the program."Glastonbury reached the CCC final in three of the last four seasons, winning the title in 2023 and losing to Berlin in 2024.For the large group of seniors, it was a return to the top of the mountain after an unusually mediocre 2025 season."It is surreal, and it is a little bit of a full circle moment because my freshman year we beat South Windsor in this tournament," Nilsen said. "It is amazing to get another one under our belt, it is unreal. It feels so good being on that field, making an impact and scoring a goal rather than watching on the sidelines."Both Glastonbury and South Windsor will receive first-round byes in the CIAC Class LL tournament.
