The Detroit Lions on Saturday, Nov. 7, placed linebacker Jack Campbell on injured reserve.Campbell (neck) was placed on a backboard and carted off the field in the fourth quarter of Detroit's 19-15 win over the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, Nov. 1. Campbell, who was transported to Henry Ford Hospital, said in a statement through the team Tuesday he has "full movement in my lower body, and I’m continuing to make progress with movement in my upper body."An official diagnosis for Campbell, 26, or a timeline for his recovery have not yet been publicly shared. In his statement, Campbell asked fans to continue praying for him and his family. Dan Campbell said. "Those are the standards for us going into this (next) game. We owe it to him."Linebackers Derrick Barnes, Malcolm Rodriguez and Trevor Nowaske are all expected to take on larger roles on defense. Other linebackers on the active roster include Joe Bachie, Amen Ogbongbemiga and K.J. Britt, the latter of whom was signed Wednesday from the New England Patriots' practice squad. The Lions on Saturday also signed cornerback Nick Whiteside to the active roster and temporarily elevated two players from their practice squad for Sunday's matchup with the Miami Dolphins, in defensive end Anthony Lucas and running back Jabari Small. Juice Scruggs will replace Mays at center, and a combination of players could fill in for Reed at cornerback; options on the outside (in addition to Whiteside) include Roger McCreary, Rock Ya-Sin, Khalil Dorsey and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.At the defensive end spot opposite of Aidan Hutchinson, Lucas, Derrick Moore and Eric O'Neill are all likely to see increased snaps. Moore has seen at least 20 reps on defense in each of his last three games.
