Lakers have made a big roster decision with Bronny James

In his third pro season, Bronny James has shown marginal improvement over his rookie season, and he is yet to become the player people hoped he would become when he was taken with the No. 55 pick in the 2024 NBA Draft.So far this season, he has appeared in five of the Los Angeles Lakers' nine games and logged a total of four points, one block and two turnovers in 12 minutes. Given the team's guard depth this season, as well as its eventual need to give rookie Cameron Carr some minutes, it will be difficult for James to get onto the court for any meaningful stretches of action.On Thursday, the Lakers reportedly made a big roster decision on James by assigning him to their G League affiliate, per Dave McMenamin of ESPN."The Los Angeles Lakers have used Bronny James sparingly during their 7-2 start and on Thursday assigned him to their G League affiliate, the Coachella Valley Lakers," McMenamin wrote."... James has performed better in the developmental G League, averaging 18.4 points on 49.6% shooting (including 41.3% from 3), 4.4 assists and 4.0 rebounds in 25 games the past two seasons for the South Bay Lakers, who were rebranded and relocated this season. The team plays its home games at Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, rather than at the Lakers' practice facility in El Segundo."Per McMenamin, Carr was also assigned to Coachella Valley.The Lakers' initial decision to draft James two years ago was met with plenty of controversy and criticism, given that his father, LeBron, was still a member of the team at the time and had stated multiple times that his dream was to share the court during an NBA game with his son.
