Jacoby Brissett benched in favor of Gardner Minshew as Cardinals struggle vs. Cowboys

The Dallas Cowboys have been an enticing matchup for most opposing quarterbacks in 2026. Coming into Week 8, Dallas had allowed 25.7 points per game. Though the Arizona Cardinals haven’t been an offensive juggernaut to open the year, Jacoby Brissett has had moments of solid play thus far.But all of that came crashing down in Week 8, as Brissett was benched in favor of Gardner Minshew. The switch happened toward the end of the third quarter. At the time, Brissett was just 10 of 23 for 119 yards and an interception. He had taken four sacks, two of which came on consecutive plays on the Cardinals’ last offensive drive. With the team trailing 17-3, Minshew was put into the game with roughly 1:35 to play in the third quarter. He completed his first pass attempt and then watched as Tyler Allgeier broke free for a 63-yard rushing touchdown on the next play, bringing the Cardinals within one score. This story will be updated.
