Former UNC Basketball coach finds new gig

The North Carolina Tar Heels are preparing for their first season under new head coach Michael Malone, who took over this offseason. Following a tough exit in the first round of the 2026 NCAA Tournament, the program decided to go in a new direction. That was centered around moving on from Hubert Davis. But as Malone and the team focus on this season, Davis also has a new gig. On Tuesday, TNT announced that they have hired the former North Carolina head coach as a studio analyst for the upcoming season. Per Sports Business Journal, Davis will appear in studio and will make his first appearance on Nov. 5 as part of the network’s college hoops tripleheader on truTV and HBO Max.This is a role that Davis is familiar with.Prior to joining North Carolina's coaching staff in 2012 under Roy Williams, Davis was a studio analyst for college basketball on ESPN. It was a job he was comfortable with and gave insights on pre- and post-game coverage for the network. After departing UNC, Davis was spotted just a few times this past Summer and spent time with TNT sports analysts, including Greg Anthony. He's also very close to Grant Hill, Seth Davis, Jalen Rose and Jamal Mashburn, citing them in helping make his decision easier.Follow us @TarHeelsWire on X (formerly Twitter) and like our page on Facebook to follow ongoing coverage of North Carolina Tar Heels news, notes and opinions. This article originally appeared on Tar Heels Wire: Former UNC Basketball coach finds new gig
