Florida football played without starting defensive tackle Jeramiah McCloud during its 23-7 loss to Oklahoma at The Swamp on Saturday, November 7.McCloud was suspended earlier in the week by first-year Florida Gators coach Jon Sumrall for a team conduct violation.Sumall addressed McCloud's suspension following UF's loss."There's certain things, standards, that you ever to live by and do to be part of the team," Sumrall said. "Jeremiah just had a couple things that had occurred that at some point there has to be accountability. He knows that he's cared for. We met multiple times earlier in the week to discuss the direction things were going and had to make that decision on Tuesday last week with him after a couple things that occurred. "He and I will meet tomorrow. I'm hopeful that he can return. It's going to be more on his mindset than mine because I'm not changing. We're not going to bend the rules or change the ground rules for anybody."Sophomore Joseph Mbatchou started in place of McCloud and finished with four tackles, one tackle for loss and one quarterback hurry.Florida linebacker Myles Graham, who had 15 tackles, said it's also on teammates to hold McCloud accountable."Don't let him get away with the little stuff that leads to bigger stuff," Graham said. "We got to do a better job of leading him in the right direction and making sure he doesn't go off on the wrong path."Kevin Brockway is The Gainesville Sun’s Florida beat writer.
