“Every player does their bit” Alan Shearer hails Arsenal’s defensive playAlan Shearer has praised Arsenal for the quality of their defensive performances, highlighting the collective effort that has helped the Gunners establish themselves as one of the strongest teams in the country. The former striker believes Mikel Arteta has built a side that understands the importance of defending together and protecting its goal.Arteta has gradually transformed the culture at Arsenal since taking charge, giving the club a clearer identity and building a team capable of competing for major honours. One of the biggest changes has been the way the Gunners approach matches, particularly their willingness to prioritise defensive organisation.Early in his time at the Emirates, Arteta wanted his players to produce attractive football, but the team sometimes sacrificed defensive stability in the process. That often left Arsenal vulnerable and resulted in goals being conceded too easily. The manager has since worked to correct those weaknesses, turning the Gunners into a difficult side to break down. Their defensive approach has attracted criticism from some rivals, but Arsenal have continued to show that organisation and discipline can be just as important as attacking brilliance.Shearer praises Arsenal’s collective defendingShearer has been particularly impressed by the way every Arsenal player contributes when the team is defending. The Gunners delivered another impressive defensive performance at the weekend, prompting the former England international to highlight their commitment and organisation.Speaking via the Metro, Shearer explained why he believes Arsenal’s approach makes them so difficult to play against.‘That is how you work as a team, that is how you defend as a team.‘Every single one of them to a man were outstanding. When they were under the cosh in the second half, you could see how much they wanted to defend and what it means to them to keep a clean sheet.‘I don’t think there is a better team in world football that defend quite like Arsenal defend. Every player does their bit, it isn’t just the back four.’(Photo by Carl Recine/Getty Images)Arteta has built a difficult team to beatAlthough the Gunners are sometimes criticised for placing so much emphasis on defending, their approach has helped them become more consistent. They do not always need to score several goals to win matches because they have learned how to limit the opposition’s opportunities.Arsenal’s strength comes from the entire team rather than the defenders alone. Their forwards and midfielders also contribute to the defensive work, making it difficult for opponents to find space or build attacks comfortably._____________________________________________________________________________________________ADMIN COMMENTSo here are some simple rules which I must insist commenters follow….You agree not to give any personal abuse to other Arsenal fans.
