He was named EYBL Defensive Player of the Year after averaging 5.1 blocks per game.Scouting UvwoRivals National Recruiting Analyst Jamie Shaw has evaluated Lewis Uvwo multiple times in person, recently writing this about his game: Not often are we able to watch a player dictate the flow of a game without having to touch the ball on the offensive end of the floor. This is the type of defensive dominance that we saw from Lewis Uvwo this summer. His unique combination of length, twitch, timing, and tenacity forced teams to game plan for him and know where he was on every possession.Uvwo has excellent timing, both hands, and that anticipation leads to his ability to quickly close angles. His twitchy athleticism is also interesting in his ability to slide and turn his hips at pace. He seems to enjoy playing defense. He smiles as he blocks a shot and looks at the shooter with puzzled dismay. Offensively, Uvwo plays a basic game right now. Most of his buckets come from putbacks, rim runs, and lobs from the dunker spots. He has not shown much range or an ability to create advantages (by passing or scoring) with the ball in his hands at this point. The defensive presence is unique, and it is something that sets him apart from his peers in this class.
