After trading away Quinnen Williams to the Dallas Cowboys last season and acquiring two Indianapolis Colts’ first-round picks for Sauce Gardner, New York has three selections that could all land inside the top 10 of the 2027 NFL Draft. The Colts have begun selling off star players, trading Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner ahead of the NFL Trade Deadline. Those moves could make it difficult for Indianapolis to win many more games this season. Meanwhile, the Cowboys are 3-5, and the Jets are 2-6 after losing to the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 8.New York now has its own first-round pick, Indianapolis’ selection, and Dallas’ pick. The Colts and Cowboys also face each other next week, meaning at least one of those two selections will improve after Week 9.Watch sports LIVE with fuboTV (free trial)The Jets could have a chance to make history with three projected top-10 picks. That gives them tremendous flexibility to address several areas of need, including quarterback. Here are five prospects New York must have on its radar.1. Drew Mestemaker, QB, Oklahoma StateTroy Taormina-Imagn ImagesMestemaker has emerged as one of the most intriguing quarterbacks in the 2027 class. He seemingly came out of nowhere and has put together an impressive season at Oklahoma State, making a strong case to be the first quarterback selected. The Jets should have serious interest, although there is a chance Mestemaker will be off the board before they make their first selection. If New York believes he is the quarterback who can lead the franchise into the future, it might have to use its highest pick to secure him.2. CJ Carr, QB, Notre DameCarr is another quarterback who could be in consideration for the first overall selection at his position. Depending on how teams evaluate the class and their individual needs, he could even come off the board before Mestemaker.Either quarterback would make sense for the Jets if they are ready to address their long-term situation under center. With three first-round selections, New York has the opportunity to take a quarterback without sacrificing its chance to add multiple impact defensive players.3. Trinidad Chambliss, QB, Ole MissChambliss could be the most talented quarterback in the entire class, yet he is currently projected to be the third or fourth quarterback selected. That could create an opportunity for the Jets.If New York believes Chambliss is its franchise quarterback, it could use its first two selections on defense and still have a chance to land him around the eighth-to-10th pick. The Jets would have to be comfortable with the possibility that another team takes him earlier, but their collection of picks gives them options they would not otherwise have.4. Colin Simmons, EDGE, TexasSimmons could be the best defensive player available in the 2027 draft. The Texas edge rusher has the instincts and ability to become a difference-maker at the next level, making him an appealing target for a Jets defense that needs more young talent.Pairing Simmons with David Bailey would give New York another promising presence off the edge. If the Jets decide to prioritize defense with their first selection, Simmons should be near the top of their list.5. Chris Cole, LB, GeorgiaCole is a prospect New York should make a priority regardless of which first-round selection it uses. The Georgia linebacker has the potential to become a game-changing addition to the Jets’ defense.Demario Davis won’t be in the league much longer, and the Jets need to prepare for life beyond the veteran linebacker. Cole could give them a young player to build around while addressing a position that will become increasingly important as the roster evolves. The Jets have a rare opportunity in front of them. Three potential top-10 selections would give the organization a chance to add a franchise quarterback while upgrading multiple areas of its defense. Whether they target Mestemaker or Carr early, wait for Chambliss, or use their picks to bring in Simmons and Cole, New York has several paths to reshape its roster. The most important thing is making those selections count.Related: Minkah Fitzpatrick’s ‘Jets being Jets’ confession is damning for Aaron GlennRelated: Is Jets HC Aaron Glenn worried about getting fired as fan base gangs up on him?
