2027 5-star OL's Texas A&M's commitment remains ironclad

Texas A&M's No. 1-ranked 2027 class is stable, while four-star linebacker Aston Whiteside is currently the only prospect to flip his commitment (Miami), and the program's six five-star commits, including linebacker Kaden Henderson and wide receiver Eric McFarland, have stated in recent interviews that they are excited to make their way to College Station and will sign with the Aggies next month.The program's top commit, five-star offensive tackle Mark Matthews, has yet to publicly stray from his commitment, largely because of his ironclad relationship with coach Mike Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing, which has not wavered despite the Aggies' struggles on the field this season. Given the state of Texas A&M's current starting offensive line, knowing that center Mark Nabou and right guard Wilkin Formby will depart after the 2026 season, while left tackle Tyree Adams could also leave, Mark Matthews will be a candidate to compete for a starting role at both tackle spots. The new five-year eligibility rule will force coaches to play their younger players to avoid future transfer decisions, as this season has with freshman running back KJ Edwards, now the Aggies' starter.
