The second week of the 2026 Michigan high school football playoffs is loaded with state championship-level matchups. But instead of playing for a wooden mitten at Ford Field, teams will hit the road to play for a district championship trophy on high school football fields. New seeding changes and a good start for most favorites mean the rest of the playoffs will be filled with heavy-hitting matchups each week until the champions are decided on Nov. 27 and 28.And no matter where you are, high school football will be some of the best football readily available to residents this week. The prep games should be more entertaining than the struggle-fest expected between U-M and MSU in Ann Arbor on Saturday night, and the Lions are in Miami on Sunday. Division II will be fun, though: Defending national champ Ferris State plays Wayne State in Detroit; undefeated Northwood is at home; Michigan Tech hosts Davenport in a ranked matchup; and Grand Valley State hosts Northern Michigan.Watch some good football first and don't let the Spartans or Wolverines dampen the mood on Saturday night. If it ends up as Tommy Carr vs. Kayd Coffman, the top two high school quarterbacks in Michigan last fall will square off in the state's marquee college game.[ Sign up for our new Michigan Sidelines statewide high school sports newsletter ]MHSAA football playoffs schedule for district finals (11-player)All games kick off at 7 p.m. Friday unless listed otherwise.Division 1Region 1District 1Grandville (5-5) at Portage Central (9-1), Portage Central High School.District 2Grand Ledge (10-0) at East Kentwood (10-0), Saturday, 1 p.m., East Kentwood High School.Region 2District 1Grand Blanc (10-0) at Clarkston (9-1), Friday, 1 p.m., Clarkston High School.District 2Oxford (8-2) at Novi Detroit Catholic Central (9-1), DCC High School.Region 3District 1Dearborn Fordson (8-2) at Detroit Cass Tech (10-0), Northwestern High School.District 2Northville (8-2) at Saline (10-0), Saline High School.Region 4District 1Rochester (7-3) at Romeo (10-0), Romeo High School.District 2Rochester Adams (7-3) at Rochester Hills Stoney Creek (8-2), Stoney Creek High School.Division 2Region 1District 1Portage Northern (6-4) at Byron Center (8-2), Byron Center High School.District 2Muskegon Mona Shores (9-1) at Caledonia (8-2), Caledonia High School.Region 2District 1Midland Dow (8-2) at Milford (9-1), Milford High School.District 2South Lyon East (8-2) at South Lyon (8-2), South Lyon High School.Region 3District 1North Farmington (7-3) at Birmingham Brother Rice (8-2), Lawrence Tech University.District 2St. Clair Shores Lakeview (8-2) at Orchard Lake St. Mary's (7-3), St. Mary's High School.Region 4District 1Livonia Franklin (8-2) at Gibraltar Carlson (10-0), Carlson High School.District 2Temperance Bedford (8-2) at Grosse Pointe South (9-1), GPS High School.Division 3Region 1District 1Cadillac (8-2) at Mount Pleasant (9-1), Mt.
